Who We Are

An NGO in Bangalore that provides security, schooling, and most of all, care, support and hope for disadvantaged girls.

Our Roots

In October 1973, Mrs. Mary Isaac and her friends in Bangalore formed the Jayanagar Ladies Club.  It started as a social gathering but the ladies felt the need to do something more meaningful and decided to pool their talents and resources to raise funds for various social works such as aid for poor cancer patients, assisting handicapped children and supporting leprosy patients.

In 1977, the informal Club converted itself to a registered society, Housewives Association. The focus was on programmes and support for slum children.

In 1979, The Year of the Child, Housewives Association resolved to raise funds for a Children’s Home.  Sneha Sadan started in 1981 in a small rented house in Jayanagar with less than 10 children, most of them coming from very unfortunate backgrounds with either a single parent or none.  It soon grew to twenty-five boys from 4 to 12 years in age looked after by a House Mother, a cook and a helper.

In January 1982, Housewives Association was replaced with a registered charitable society, Child Fund Association (CFA).

By 1999, CFA succeeded in raising the funds needed to build a 3-storey building, Sunbeam, on land that it had purchased for the purpose in Puttenahalli, J P Nagar.  Sunbeam was completed and became functional in 2000.  We are grateful to Zachariah Consultants who designed and supervised the construction of the building without any charge and to Shiva Shakti who did the construction giving us generous credit and time to pay.

Raising boys and girls together was very challenging so Sunbeam became a girls only residential home.  However, deserving boys continue to be supported from outside.

Mission

To provide quality education, support and a safe home for deprived girls.

Vision

Our girls should believe:

We Are Family. We Are Worthy. We Can Do Well.
